About Schererville
Called the “Crossroads of the Nation,” Schererville was founded in 1866 by Nicholas Scherer after he arrived from Germany in 1846. It was intersected by Indian trails that became westward routes for settlers looking to move to unclaimed lands. Today, those same trails have been modernized to include U.S. Highways 41 and 30 as well as I-80/94 and I-65.
